Simple as ABC #2: Keep Calm & Validate
Simple as ABC #2: Keep Calm & Validate is the second in a series of works around one of the most complex phenomena of the twenty-first century: the Western migration machine. In 2015, together with artist and scenographer Jozef Wouters, Thomas Bellinck created Simple as ABC#1: Man vs Machine, a short theatrical essay on surveillance technology. The next step, Simple as ABC #2: Keep Calm & Validate, is a documentary musical theatre performance on digital migration management and the outsourcing of our discomfort with social selection. In making this piece, Bellinck engaged in countless discussions with border and data managers in control rooms and on the fringes of Project Europe.
